2018 Volkswagen Atlas
This 2018 Volkswagen Atlas Highline is a good choice for someone who needs a proper family SUV with plenty of room but still wants the nicer features. Finished in Black with a Black interior, it has a simple, clean look, and the Highline was one of the best-equipped Atlas trims available.
Under the hood is Volkswagen's 3.6L VR6 engine, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. It's a good setup for a larger SUV, with smooth power for highway driving and the added confidence of AWD when winter weather shows up.
The Highline trim is where this Atlas really separates itself from the lower models. You get leather seating surfaces, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, power front seats with driver memory, three-zone climate control, remote start, navigation, Fender premium audio, and Volkswagen Digital Cockpit.
It also comes with a large panoramic sunroof, which is a nice feature in a three-row vehicle because passengers in the back actually get to enjoy it too. There's also a power liftgate, keyless access with push-button start, parking sensors, and an Area View 360-degree camera, which definitely comes in handy when you're parking an SUV this size.
The Atlas is one of those vehicles where the third row isn't just there to say it has one. There's useful passenger room in the back, and when you don't need all seven seats, they fold down to give you a big cargo area. It's great for families, hockey bags, camping gear, road trips, or just those days when you somehow end up bringing half the house with you.
Safety equipment includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Assist, and Park Distance Control.
